Various NFL personnel were in West Virginia Thursday to watch quarterback Geno Smith's pro day. Smith reportedly put on a lights-out performance, completing 60 of 64 passes. Two of those incompletions were drops.
Barring any surprises, this should solidify Smith's status as the top-rated quarterback heading into next month's NFL draft. Smith could be a top-10 pick.
Did the performance convince the Buffalo Bills, who hold the No. 8 overall pick and had representatives in attendance?
Buffalo is desperate for a quarterback. The Bills released former starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and currently have Tarvaris Jackson as their starter. Jackson is not the long-term solution in Buffalo, and the team must add one of the top quarterbacks via the draft.
Based on need, Smith could be a strong target for the Bills. But other teams like the Oakland Raiders (No. 3) and Arizona Cardinals (No. 7) are other possibilities ahead of Buffalo.
