FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- One of the key members of the New York Jets' defensive front, Muhammad Wilkerson, left the game on a cart after sustaining an ankle injury.

Greg M. Cooper/USA TODAY Sports"It's an ankle, but hopefully it's not a high ankle," Rex Ryan said of Muhammad Wilkerson's injury.
Initially booed by the Gillette Stadium crowd for going down in the fourth quarter, Wilkerson was able to leave the stadium on his own power after the 13-10 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.

“[I] got carted off,” Wilkerson said. “Hopefully we see the X-rays and hopefully it’s good.”

Jets coach Rex Ryan said he was hopeful that his defensive end wasn’t too hurt.

“It’s an ankle, but hopefully it's not a high ankle," Ryan said. "I’m hoping it’s not."

Wilkerson left the locker room wearing a pair of slip-on shoes, but later had his right ankle wrapped with ice as he left the stadium.

“It’s a long season,” he said. “So I’m not too concerned.”
