FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was fined $7,875 by the NFL for a uniform violation in last Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Bengals. Specifically, Spikes was fined for wearing red cleats.

While players have been given the option to wear pink cleats this month as part of the NFL's breast cancer awareness campaign, players are prohibited from wearing any other cleats that don't align with the rest of their teammates/team colors (the Patriots wear blue and white cleats).

Last week, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was fined $5,250 for wearing green cleats, as he violated the same rule as Spikes.
