Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork was fined $30,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness in Sunday's win over the Jaguars.
On a change of possession play, Wilfork struck Jaguars offensive lineman Steve Vallos in the head with his forearm. Wilfork discussed the penalty after the game, saying he was sticking up for a teammate.
The league office had no other official word on Patriots fines, which could mean safety Patrick Chung was spared a fine from his hit on receiver Cecil Shorts III that drew a penalty flag. On Friday, Chung said he hadn't received any word of a possible fine.
