Schefter: McDaniels won't interview

December, 31, 2012
Patriots offensive coordiantor Josh McDaniels has informed teams that he will not interview for any head coaching vacancies, according to ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Seven head coaches have already been fired on Monday, as the NFL enters it cycle of head coaching and general manager overhauling.

Previous reports linked McDaniels to the opening in Cleveland, where Pat Shurmur was fired from on Monday. On Sunday, Schefter reported that McDaniels was not likely to be a candidate for the job when it opened.

Monday's news should temper any speculation about McDaniels potentially taking any other head coaching gig. McDaniels addressed the possibility of taking a head coaching job during a Monday conference call with the media, calling the talk of it "irrelevant."

Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
