As tweeted by the Patriots this morning, with the retirement of longtime Bengals running backs coach Jim Anderson, that moves Dante Scarnecchia into the top spot as the longest active assistant coach with the same team.
The 2013 season will mark Scarnecchia's 30th with the Patriots, and his 32nd overall in the NFL.
A look at the different roles held by Scarnecchia in his NFL career:
1982-88 -- Tight ends/special teams
1989-90 -- Offensive line (with Colts, under Ron Meyer)
1991-92 -- Tight ends/special teams
1993-1994 -- Special assistant
1995-96 -- Defensive assistant/linebackers
1997-98 -- Special teams
1999 -- Offensive line
2000-2012 -- Assistant head coach/offensive line
The Patriots followed up with this tweet as well: "Fun fact -- Scarnecchia & Anderson were college roommates at Cal Western in San Diego from 1968-69."
