Niko Koutovides
Terms: One year, $865,000 maximum value
Base salary: $840,000 (non-guaranteed)
Offseason workout bonus: $25,000
Cap charge: $580,000

Marquice Cole
Terms: One year, $730,000 maximum value
Base salary: $715,000 (non-guaranteed)
Offseason workout bonus: $15,000
Cap charge: $570,000

QUICK-HIT THOUGHTS: Each of these deals reflects a low-risk, low-cost investment for veterans with specified roles. Jenkins' deal further suggests what we had suspected about his signing, which is that he is viewed as a depth option at wide receiver who brings size, experience and a veteran presence. That's something the Patriots largely lack otherwise at wide receiver. Cole and Koutovides add special teams value, and Cole also was used as a depth defensive back in 2012. The cap charge for each is due to the minimum salary benefit ($555,000 plus their bonus considerations).
