Edelman takes visit to Giants

April, 3, 2013
Free-agent wide receiver Julian Edelman is visiting with the Giants today and Thursday, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com and Mike Garafolo of USA Today.

Edelman, who finished the season on injured reserve after breaking his foot in Week 13, entered the NFL as a 2009 seventh-round pick of the Patriots.

We haven't heard much free agency buzz about Edelman, but he's improved each season after playing quarterback collegiately at Kent State.

He finished 2012 with 21 catches for 235 yards and three touchdowns, and also played extensively on special teams. He is the only player in the NFL to return at least one punt for a touchdown in each of the past three seasons.

The Patriots have a major need at receiver, although it is unclear how much interest the team has in retaining Edelman.
Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
