McCray walked gingerly to the locker room and was replaced by veteran Charlie Peprah.
McCray made the first two tackles of the day. He was hurt on a 14-yard catch by Browns receiver Greg Little.
If McCray cannot return, the Cowboys will be short at safety with only Eric Frampton in reserve.
