IRVING - It’s time for all of us to deal with reality. Anthony Spencer is having a better overall season than DeMarcus Ware, and Jerry Jones is going to have to write a fat check to keep him.

Spencer still isn’t flashy, but he does a tremendous job of all the dirty work and he’s made more big plays than Ware this season. That’s why he ended Ware’s month-long reign as the team’s best player.

Each week, during the season, I rank my top 10 players on the roster based on their performances this season.

1. Anthony Spencer: Ware has more sacks, but Spencer is making more impact plays. Truth. He consistently excels at forcing running backs inside to the help, he knocks down passes, he pressures quarterbacks. He is the Cowboys’ defensive MVP thus far.

2. Tony Romo: After a slow start, Romo has been playing his best football of the season - and he’s coming off his best game: 303 yards with three TDs and a 150.5 passer rating. He’s had a passer rating of 93.2 or better in four of the past five games.

3. Dez Bryant: He’s in the midst of becoming the playmaker Jerry Jones envisioned when he drafted him with the 24th pick of the first round. Bryant has six touchdowns and seven receptions of 20 yards or more in his last four games.

4. DeMarcus Ware: The Cowboys need him to be great in the last four games. Good isn’t going to be good enough for the Cowboys to win five in a row and make the playoffs.

5. Jason Hatcher: Hatcher is playing well, and providing leadership along the defensive line.

6. Jason Witten: He ended a string of 50 catches without a reception of 20 yards or more with consecutive grabs of 28 and 36 yards. Now, he can work on that streak of games without a touchdown, which is now at eight games .
Last Week: 6

7. DeMarco Murray: After missing six games with a sprained foot, all Murray did was touch the ball on 27 of the 37 plays he was in the game. He finished with 83 yards rushing, 19 yards receiving and a significant impact on the entire offense.

8. Brandon Carr: No one expects him to be a shut-down cornerback, but the Cowboys need him to make more plays. It would help, if he wasn’t in so much zone.

9. Josh Price-Brent: He made the game’s biggest defensive play, stripping Bryce Brown in the fourth quarter. Morris Claiborne returned the fumble for the game-clinching touchdown. Price-Brent has made more big plays than Jay Ratliff this season.

10. Dan Bailey: All he does is make all of the kicks he’s supposed to make. He hit three Thursday, including a 51-yard kick. He’s made each of his 20 kicks under 50 yards this season.
