The lockers of Brown and Brent remained untouched on Wednesday. Players eat lunch after their practice and there was a game of dominoes in the middle of the locker room.
"This is not a one-game thing," fullback Lawrence Vickers said. "We have a task. Regardless of what obstacles or what tragedies and what steps we have, we still have to protect the goal at the end of the day. It’s not putting nothing to the side. It’s dealing with the task at hand and still being able to move forward and do some of the things that you have to do in life.
Vickers' locker is next to Brent's and the emotions of losing two teammates was on his mind Wednesday.
"That’s my brother," Vickers said of Brent. "I think that’s pretty self-explanatory. How I feel? My feelings really don’t matter compared to the things that he’s going through. So I’m holding my emotions and things. You’ve just got to be there for your brother in a time of need. This is one of those times, and just got to try to maintain, keep yourself busy during times like this."
During Tuesday's memorial service, every Cowboys player that attended hugged Brent and offered encouraging words.
"It's real tough man," defensive end Jason Hatcher said. "We lost a brother but we didn’t lose him. He is going to be around. He got our support. He is our brother. He is family. Like I told him, he is going to play football again. We are going to do what we can to fight for him and keep him on the right track. At the end of the day, that’s our brother. I love him with all my heart."
