ARLINGTON, Texas – When Jason Garrett needs to make a point about how to prepare the right way to the younger players, he often points to Sean Lee.

With Lee locked up until 2019 thanks to a six-year contract extension signed Wednesday that could be worth as much as $51 million, Garrett was ecstatic.

“Sean Lee represents, embodies and personifies everything that we think is good in football,” Garrett said. “He’s an outstanding player. He cares a great deal about the game. He has a tremendous passion for the game. His work ethic is off the charts. He’s a productive player and he just goes about it the way you want him to go about it. A great example to the rest of his teammates. A natural leader the first time he got here and everybody responds to what he is all about.”

DeMarcus Ware might be the defense’s best player and most well-known, but Lee has become the conscience of the defense, poking, prodding and pulling guys along.

“Just come to practice, watch him play in games, everybody recognizes how good a football player that he is,” Garrett said.
