IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys received some positive news on the injury front at Monday’s practice with the returns of Morris Claiborne, Ernie Sims and Cole Beasley, but also some potentially negative news with Jason Hatcher, Mackenzy Bernadeau and Danny McCray sitting because of injuries.

Hatcher is battling a groin injury, while Bernadeau has an ankle sprain and McCray has a hamstring strain. Bernadeau’s ankle sprain is not considered serious.

With only two practices this week and the starters not playing Thursday against Houston, the Cowboys will choose to be cautious.

Claiborne has not practiced since Aug. 6 after “jamming” his left knee. He went through a few days of full-speed running last week. Sims has not practiced since Aug. 11. Beasley suffered a sprained foot Aug. 9 against Oakland. The hope is Sims and Beasley can play against the Texans.

With Bernadeau out, David Arkin worked as the first-team left guard. Doug Free continued to work at right guard with Jermey Parnell at right tackle.
