From most league titles to consecutive section titles and most undefeated seasons, updated all-time state leaders from the Cal-Hi Sports record book in numerous postseason team categories shows Bakersfield with almost as many top totals as De La Salle of Concord.

With 20 straight league championships, 20 straight CIF North Coast Section crowns and three straight CIF Open Division state bowl titles, there’s no secret that the legendary De La Salle of Concord football program owns a truckload of state records. But the Spartans are not alone as a storied program in the Golden State. Bakersfield still tops all schools for most section titles, most CIF state titles and most undefeated seasons.

Here is an updated look at the Cal-Hi Sports state football postseason team success categories (prior to the start of 2012 season):

State Football Coaching Wins Leaders

California high school footballScott Kurtz/ESPNHSSacramento Grant's Mike Alberghini gets the bucket dump after team won 2008 CIF Open Division state bowl game.
California could get its fourth 300-win coach during 2012 season as its all-time leader starts to close in on 400. The Cal-Hi Sports state record book list of those with 200 or more seems to grow by three or four every season.

With an expected young team in 2012, it might be tough for coach John Barnes of Los Alamitos to get his career win-loss record up to the milestone total of 300 since he began coaching in 1978 at Magnolia of Anaheim. There also are differing numbers for his win total (due to forfeit wins, losses) so the local celebration in Orange County might not match the Cal-Hi Sports timeline, but Barnes clearly deserves the praise whenever it is celebrated. He would become just the fourth in state history to reach 300, preceded only by Herb Meyer of El Camino Oceanside, Marijon Ancich from St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs and Bob Ladouceur from De La Salle of Concord.

Since achieving his 300th win, Ladouceur has moved past the other two coaches on the all-time state list and projects to reach 400 by the middle of the 2013 season. His teams at De La Salle won CIF Open Division state bowl titles in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Here is an updated look at the Cal-Hi Sports state football coaching wins category (all those reported with 200 wins or more are included):

Latest new, updated list of all-time bests for a single season from the exclusive Cal-Hi Sports state record book is topped by a new record holder from the 2011 season. Heisman Trophy favorite Matt Barkley of USC along with several other likely college starters – like Brett Nottingham at Stanford and Joe Southwick at Boise State – also are included.

California’s first 5,000-yard passer eclipsed the previous state record for most yards in a season on a state record-tying 99-yard touchdown pass in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship. Tanner Trosin couldn’t do enough, however, to prevent his team at Folsom from losing in that game to Vacaville. Still, his final season total of 5,185 yards easily surpassed the earlier record of 4,907 established in 1999 by David Koral from Palisades of Pacific Palisades.

Here are the updated all-time leaders from the state record book heading into the 2012 season now with nearly 200 listings:

De La Cruz also tossed 61 TD passes as a junior in 1998.
