EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- David Diehl isn't sure what the future holds for him.

After failing to make the playoffs a season after winning it all, the Giants likely will make some changes in the offseason and that could involve some old familiar faces who have won several games for Big Blue in the past.

"I am not worried about that," Diehl said after the Giants' 42-7 win over Philadelphia. "It is out of my realm, out of my control."

Diehl saw the Giants release former offensive line fixtures like Shaun O'Hara and Rich Seubert prior to the 2011 season. So he knows change is always around the corner. This season, Diehl started the first two games at right tackle but then injured his MCL.

One of the most durable offensive lineman in the game, Diehl missed three straight games before playing against San Francisco as an extra offensive lineman. Sean Locklear took over at right tackle and started six straight games there before Diehl took over at right tackle against Pittsburgh.

Diehl then suffered a burner in Week 12 against Green Bay and Locklear returned to the starting lineup against Washington the following week. But Locklear suffered a season-ending knee injury during that loss and Diehl remained in the starting lineup after that.

After helping the Giants win a Super Bowl last season, Diehl experienced a frustrating 2012 due to injuries.

"Yeah, obviously you never want to get injured or hurt and miss games," Diehl said. "It is something I will never get used to. And never will get used to. So I fight myself back from injury and come back and help contribute to team wins, that is all you are here for."

But Diehl, 32, also knows the business of football. And considering that he is due $4.1 million in base salary next season, Diehl might have to restructure his contract or he could potentially be a cap casualty. Also, GM Jerry Reese and the coaching staff have often talked about grooming backup tackle James Brewer to start.

"Obviously year in and year out, there’s always changes, there’s always going to be stuff going on," Diehl said.

When asked if he expects to be here next season, Diehl answered with a question of his own.

"Do you expect to be back here?" he asked a reporter, who answered yes. "Yeah... there you go."
