EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. –- Justin Tuck is not retiring.

And he certainly isn’t ready to put on any other uniform other than the blue No. 91 jersey he has known his entire career.

Tuck felt the need to tweet that he is not going anywhere on Monday. He also says he has so much left in his tank people shouldn't bother asking him about it for years to come. “Ask me that question in six, seven years,” Tuck said. “That’s just to let you know how much I think I still have in the tank.”

General manager Jerry Reese agrees. Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin made it sound as if defensive end isn’t going anywhere.

Tuck, 29, is entering the final year of his contract and has had five and four sacks in each of the last two seasons while battling injuries.

“Justin has been a good player for a long time for us,” Reese said. “Obviously he didn’t play as good as he wanted to play and we wanted him to play. But it is not just Justin. I don’t think you single anybody out.

“He wanted to play better,” Reese said. “We wanted him to play. He’s not getting any younger. But I think he’s got a lot of tread left on his tires and we expect him to come back and be the Justin Tuck that we know.”

Tuck suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out of the Giants’ 33-14 loss to Baltimore in the penultimate game of the season. The defensive end said he will not need surgery on the shoulder, unlike last season.

Tuck wasn’t the only Giants pass rusher to struggle. The Giants only registered 33 sacks after posting 48 in 2011.

“I’ll be the first to tell you that my performance this year was nowhere near what I envisioned for myself after coming into training camp,” Tuck said. “And for whatever reason that was, it didn’t happen for me this year. I am disappointed in my play this year.”

Tuck called next season, his last under contract for the Giants, “important.” He feels he can “absolutely” return to his level in 2010 when he had 11.5 sacks.

“Listen man,” Tuck said. “I will be very frank and honest in saying this -- I plan on being here for a long time.”
