Giants sign Painter to reserve/future deal

January, 4, 2013
The Giants have signed quarterback Curtis Painter, one of 13 players inked to reserve/future contracts.

Painter is Peyton Manning's former backup in Indianapolis, where he started eight games in 2011 when Manning was out. Painter might have an opportunity to back up Eli Manning, with David Carr set to become one of the Giants' unrestricted free agents.

The Giants signed Painter, linebacker Jake Muasau, wide receiver Brandon Collins, cornerback Trumaine McBride, wide receiver Kevin Hardy, guard Michael Jasper and defensive tackle Bobby Skinner to reserve/future contracts.

Earlier in the week, the Giants signed tackle Matt McCants, tackle Levy Adcock, guard Stephen Goodwin, tight end Larry Donnell, defensive end Matt Broha, and cornerback Laron Scott to reserve/future contracts. All six were on the Giants' practice squad this past season.

ROLLE FINED: Safety Antrel Rolle and Eagles tackle King Dunlap were both fined $7,875 for "unnecessary roughness" by the NFL for their skirmish during last Sunday's regular season finale.
