Eli to replace Rodgers in Pro Bowl

January, 15, 2013
Eli Manning is heading to the Pro Bowl.

The Giants quarterback will replace Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers, who will not play due to injuries to "multiple lower extremities."

Manning, who will be making his third Pro Bowl trip, was the second alternate at NFC quarterback. New Orleans' Drew Brees is replacing Washington's Robert Griffin III, who is out after knee surgery.

Rodgers was slated to be the NFC's starting quarterback but he revealed on Milwaukee's ESPN 540 AM that he didn't pass his year-end physical and that an injury to his right ankle in the second half of the season "has definitely been a problem."

Manning passed for 3,948 yards and 26 touchdowns with 15 interceptions this season. He will join Jason Pierre-Paul, Victor Cruz and Chris Snee in Hawaii for the game Jan. 27.
