Giants showed interest in Hasselbeck

March, 18, 2013
The Giants can use a veteran backup quarterback and they expressed interest in the recently cut Matt Hasselbeck.

But USA Today is reporting that Hasselbeck could likely land with Indianapolis.

ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen reported that the Giants, Cardinals, Bills, Bears, Bengals, Browns, Colts, Saints, Niners and Buccaneers were all interested in Hasselbeck, who was released on Monday by the Titans.

The Giants can use a veteran backup with David Carr testing the market in free agency. However, the Giants are limited by the cap and likely can only sign a backup for a minimum deal.

Hasselbeck's brother, Tim, was a backup behind Eli Manning during 2005 and 2006. The Giants currently have Curtis Painter on the roster behind Manning.
