Steppin' to the AM: Put on the pads

August, 1, 2013
The Giants have several position battles in camp.

On Thursday, the coaches will get their first chance to see these battles take place in full pads for the first time.

Yesterday, I examined five of the best camp battles. With full pads on, it will be interesting to see how the linebacker competition progresses.

In case you missed it: Jacquian Williams is one of the linebackers hoping to make an impact in camp. If he can stay healthy, he can be a three-down linebacker for this team. He wants to be a "general." But first he has to move up the depth chart.

If you've been wondering who might be the happiest Giant in camp, all you need to do is look at the secondary at Aaron Ross.

The 411: After their first day off on Wednesday, the Giants practice in pads for the first time from 1:30-3:45. Afterward, the running backs and tight ends will sign autographs. I will not be at practice but please follow @KieranDarcy and @MazzESPN for Twitter updates from camp today.
