You can tell a lot about a team from its roster composition. Here, we take a look at the Jets' current roster, breaking it down by draft round (starters in bold).
Analysis: The Jets have 15 first-round picks on the roster, but only nine are "homegrown." That reflects their penchant for signing free agents and making trades ... It's amazing they have only one productive player from the second round. The second round has haunted them for a long time, dating back to the 1990s. (Browning Nagle, anyone?) ... Through the mid-2000s, the fourth round usually produced solid players (Jerricho Cotchery, Kerry Rhodes, etc.), but they boast only two fourth rounders on the roster ... The only late-round gem is G Matt Slauson, a two-year starter. Otherwise, they've imported other teams' late-round castoffs. They replenished their depth with their most recent draft, which consisted of eight players.
