Kerley didn't practice, expected to play

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (heel) did not participate in practice Friday. Although present at the facility, he did not take part in team or individual drills as the Jets prepare to face St. Louis on Sunday.

Kerley missed practices earlier in the season with a quad injury, but has played in each game. He has become quarterback Mark Sanchez’s most dependable receiver this season, with 35 catches for 535 yards and two touchdowns.

Ryan said he expected Kerley to play on Sunday, but the heel has been a concern for some time now. It would have to be, to miss a Friday practice after participating fully on Thursday.

“That heel’s been bothering him, a little tightness in the hamstring,” Ryan said.

After losing Santonio Holmes for the season to a foot injury, Kerley has picked up the slack, along with Chaz Schilens, Clyde Gates and rookie Stephen Hill.
