FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The Jets received some good news Monday on the injury front: TE Dustin Keller doesn't have a high-ankle sprain, after all. It's a routine sprain, according to Rex Ryan.

"So that's good," Ryan said. "We'll know about him later. He has some swelling there."

On Sunday night, a team source said Keller had suffered the dreaded high-ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Cards -- an injury that could've sidelined him for the remainder of the season. After further evaluation Monday morning, the diagnosis was changed.

In other injury news, RB/KR Joe McKnight (ribs) underwent X-rays and they were negative, according to Ryan.

DIVIDED LOCKER ROOM?: The Jets have a quarterback controversy. That could be trouble, considering the locker-room problems from last season. On Monday, DT Mike DeVito claimed the quarterback situation won't cause turmoil.

"I think in most locker rooms it could do that, but not in this locker room," DeVito said on a conference call with reporters. "We put a real (emphasis) this offseason on building a really tight-knit group, a team that cares about each other and a team that really bonds together as a family.

"It definitely won’t divide this group of guys. Last year, I might have had a different answer for you, but this year I have no doubt that this team is going to stick together."

STATEMENT BY THE DEFENSE: In holding the Cardinals to 137 total yards, the Jets jumped from 19th to 10th in the rankings for total defense.

"That's about as good as we've played in a long, long time," Ryan said.

The Jets held the Cards to 0-for-15 on third down -- the worst third-down rate in modern league history, according to Elias.

Said DeVito: "It was so needed. We really needed that."
