INDIANAPOLIS –- It sounds as if Tim Tebow's time as a New York Jet could be nearing an end.
When asked if Tebow is in his plans for this coming season, head coach Rex Ryan was noncommittal.

"Tim is under contract to be a New York Jet," Ryan said at the NFL scouting combine. "We will see how things go in the offseason."
Ryan and new general manager John Idzik both made it a point to say that they want to create competition throughout the entire roster this coming season. But when asked if Tebow would be a part of a competition with Mark Sanchez at quarterback, Ryan would not commit.
"Everything is too early to tell right now," Ryan said. "We don't know how the offseason goes, how the draft goes, how free agency goes. There are a lot of variables. Before I can go on record with any statement like that, I realize it is a long process."
The Jets reportedly will try to shop the backup quarterback with the hope of pulling off a trade. Failing a deal, the Jets could end up cutting Tebow, who has two more years remaining on his contract and is due to make $2.6 million this year.
Idzik was vague when asked about his plans for Tebow.
"Well, my view on Tim Tebow is he is a highly competitive athlete. Everywhere he has been he has been a highly competitive athlete," he said. "And what we do is we are going to provide as much competition as we can on a daily basis, every position, quarterback included, and we will see how that rolls out. And I would think that Tim would be game for that."
When asked if he likes the idea of Tebow and Sanchez competing for quarterback, Idzik said, "I like the idea of any quarterback that comes in competing. And I don't think it is limited to who we have. That is going to be a constant process. So who can we bring in, who can we draft, or who are the incumbents that are coming along well that spice up that competition?
"Sometimes that doesn't necessarily mean changing personnel," Idzik said. "It's infusing competition within the people you have. And if they have that they are going to get better, if they get better we get better as a team."
