With the oldest player on the Knicks' roster, 40-year-old Jason Kidd, now retired, is the second-oldest, 39-year-old Marcus Camby, thinking the same thing?

The answer is no.

Camby's agent Richard Kaplan told ESPNNewYork.com on Thursday that the 17-year-veteran is committed to returning next season to be the backup center.

"The game plan is still the same," Kaplan said. "There's no reason to believe he won't be back and won't take on a greater role next season."

Camby is under contract through the 2014-15 season.

He only played in 24 games last season, averaging 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game. He battled through injuries -- including left plantar fasciitis toward the end of the season -- but Kaplan said Camby was healthy in the playoffs. The agent is "not sure why [Camby] didn't play."

Camby only saw the court for about three minutes in the postseason, including only 12 seconds against the Pacers. Mike Woodson preferred to play small ball for more offense to beat the Pacers, but the Knicks could've used Camby to avoid getting out-rebounded and out-worked on second-chance opportunities.

Camby is currently in Houston, where he lives and trains in the offseason. Kaplan said Camby, who turns 40 next March, is dedicated to working on his game this summer to be a big part of the rotation in 2013-14.

"He is focused on being ready to go at the start of the season, since we certainly expect his number to be called far more often next season," Kaplan said.

HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU, KIDD! Several Knicks players, including Camby, took to Twitter to congratulate Kidd on becoming the new Nets head coach. Here's what they had to say:

Camby: "S/O 1st ballot HOF @RealJasonKidd, one of the best to do it and on the new gig!"

Raymond Felton: "Congrats @realjasonkidd, the Nets are lucky to have you. I'm gonna hate seeing you on the other side. #knickstape."

Iman Shumpert: "And congrats to one of my fav players ever @RealJasonKidd on his head coaching job! #iLoveThisGame and everything he did for it."

James White: "Congrats to my man @RealJasonKidd on getting that coaching job. He going be a great coach."

Kidd said after his introductory news conference at the Barclays Center on Thursday that James Dolan, Mike Woodson and Carmelo Anthony had all reached out to congratulate him.
