Here are the highlights of the Knicks’ 2013-14 schedule (Click here for the complete schedule):
SEASON OPENER: The Knicks open the season at home against Milwaukee on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The Bucks lost Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis over the summer and have Brandon Knight and O.J. Mayo in the fold. If recent history is any indication, the Knicks should start the season 1-0; they went 3-0 against Milwaukee last season.
MERRY CHRISTMAS: How's this for a Christmas present? The NBA's top two scorers will go head-to-head on Christmas Day. Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City will invade the Garden on Christmas Day for a 2:30 p.m. game. Carmelo Anthony and Durant went head-to-head in a race for the NBA scoring title last season. The race was undecided until the final days of the regular season. Eventually, Anthony won.
EAST RIVER RIVALRY: Last year, the NBA scheduled all four Knicks-Nets games in the first three months of the season, robbing local fans of some meaningful late-season games between the East River rivals. This year, the league got it right.
The Knicks and Nets will play in December, January and twice in April.
New York will travel to Brooklyn on Dec. 5 and then host the Nets on Jan. 20 in their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day game.
They then host Brooklyn on April 2 and finish the regular-season series against their rivals on April 15 in Brooklyn in the second-to-last game of the season.
BRING ON THE HEAT: The Knicks host Miami on Jan. 9 and then again on Feb. 1 for an 8:30 p.m. tilt (ESPN) on the night before the Super Bowl at Met Life Stadium.
New York goes to Miami on Feb. 27 in the first game of a tough back-to-back that ends at home against Golden State.
The Knicks also travel to Miami to take on the defending champs for the final time (in the regular season) on April 6 in a game aired on ABC.
OH, INDY: The Knicks get their first crack at revenge when they take on the Pacers at home on Nov. 20 (ESPN). Indy knocked New York out in six games in the second round of the playoffs last season.
WELCOME HOME BARGS: Andrea Bargnani returns to Toronto for the first time on Dec. 28.
WELCOME TO L.A., MELO? Anthony has an opt out after this season, and some have speculated that he'll end up in L.A. with the Lakers after next season. Anthony and the Knicks head to L.A. for a March 25 tilt. They also host the Lakers on Jan. 26 in an ABC game.
TOUGH STRETCH: The Knicks have four road trips of at least four games, including a five-game West Coast swing to end March, which includes games at the Lakers and Golden State. They also have four sets of four games in five nights.
One tough stretch? The Knicks play seven games in 11 nights in late February, including road games against Memphis and Miami and a home date with Golden State.
BACK-TO-BACK BURDEN: The Knicks have 18 back-to-backs.
NATIONAL EXPOSURE: The Knicks play 10 times on ESPN and six times on ABC. The Knicks' 16 appearances on ESPN/ABC are a league high. The Heat also have 16 games on the networks. Overall, the Knicks play 33 nationally-televised games.
