As the New York Giants prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles at 1 p.m. ET today at MetLife Stadium, here's one reason for Eagles fans to feel good about the game and one reason for Giants fans to do the same.

Eagles feeling good: They have beaten the Giants in eight of their past nine games against them, including with Vince Young as their quarterback at MetLife Stadium last season. They have Michael Vick back at quarterback this week because rookie Nick Foles broke his hand. It's Andy Reid's last game as the Eagles' coach, and likely Vick's last game for the Eagles as well. There are people on the roster who are playing for 2013 jobs. The Giants are down to third-stringers at cornerback. The Eagles are in a total nothing-to-lose situation with a quarterback and a coach who know plenty about how to beat today's opponent, and they're liable to be the looser team. But maybe the biggest reason for Eagles fans to feel good today is that this is the last game of this terribly disappointing season and starting tonight it's all about what's coming next.

Giants feeling good: Well, they're back home after getting waxed by the combined score of 67-14 the past two weeks in road trips to Atlanta and Baltimore. Coach Tom Coughlin spent the week challenging their pride, which very often works for the Giants. And if you buy the notion that Eli Manning and the Giants are at their best with their backs to the wall, you can expect a strong performance in this one. The Giants need to win this game and have the Vikings, Bears and Cowboys all lose in order to make the playoffs. That's a lot of help they need, but they know none of it will matter if they don't take care of their own business. That sentiment has resonated here before, and the thought for the past two months has been that it will eventually do so again. Today could be the last chance.
