IRVING, Texas – Cornerback Orlando Scandrick did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to tightness in his groin.

Scandrick called the decision for him to sit out precautionary. He said he hopes to return to practice Thursday.

“If it’s up to me, I am,” said Scandrick, who first felt tightness in his groin after Tuesday’s practice. “I feel fine, but it’s not my call. It’s really just precautionary.”

Cornerback Morris Claiborne, who has missed the last two weeks because of knee tendinitis, said he did some running Wednesday for the first time since the condition flared up. Claiborne said he felt good but will wait to see how the knee responds before the next step is determined.

It’s unlikely that Claiborne, who has not played in the preseason, will be cleared for Saturday’s game. Head coach Jason Garrett left open the possibility of Claiborne playing in the preseason finale, when starters typically sit out.

“We’ll just see where he is physically,” Garrett said. “He needs to practice; he needs to play. But then you say, ‘OK, he’s not healthy enough to do that. What’s our next best alternative?’ You maybe go into a game where he hasn’t had as much work as you’d like him to have. That’s just part of our game. You’ve got to make it work.”

Claiborne said there is "no doubt" he'll be ready for the Sept. 8 opener against the Giants.
