Chicago Bears
Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune details the path new Bears coach took to get to his current position. McClure: "Marc Trestman never stopped reaching. Now he's at the pinnacle of his profession. The 14th head coach in Bears history didn't climb to the summit overnight. He put forth the time. He made the sacrifices."
Detroit Lions
Free-agent punter Nick Harris has made it known he would like to remain with the team. "I'm just going to wait and see," Harris said recently. "I don't know if I'll be in the plans for the future. I'd like to be."
Green Bay Packers
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn hands out his grades for the team. McGinn: "They're a soft football team, and in a sport that forever favors the tough, soft is a very, very bad thing to be. The Packers' season ended just as it started, in a convincing defeat handed down by an opponent that is physically superior."
Minnesota Vikings
The Dallas Morning News' annual special-teams rankings have the Vikings at No. 1. "The Minnesota Vikings fielded an average defense and the NFC’s worst passing attack this NFL season. But the Vikings advanced to the playoffs because of the swift, powerful legs of Adrian Peterson and their special teams -- the best in the NFL, according to rankings compiled annually by The Dallas Morning News."
