The New England Patriots are getting closer to the top spot of ESPN.com's Power Rankings.

New England continued to climb after a 23-16 victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots moved up two spots to No. 3. The Patriots have a chance to challenge for the top spot next week when they host the Houston Texans, who are the No. 1 team. That will be one of the marquee matchups of this NFL season.

Here are full Power Rankings for the AFC East:
  • No. 3: Patriots (up two spots)
  • No. 20: Dolphins (down two spots)
  • No. 22: New York Jets (up one spot)
  • No. 23: Buffalo Bills (up one spot)

The Dolphins were the only division team to drop this week. They played a respectable game against New England and have another tough matchup next week against the San Francisco 49ers. The Jets moved up one place after an ugly win over the Arizona Cardinals, and the Bills did the same with a win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.
