Fine print in focus as Eric Wright trade off

The San Francisco 49ers' news release announcing Eric Wright's acquisition carried a reminder.
"For the trade to be executed, Wright must pass a physical in the Bay Area next week," it read.
The 49ers had included the same language in the first paragraph of news releases announcing trades involving Anquan Boldin and Alex Smith earlier this offseason, so there was a routine feel to the language. But with Wright reportedly failing his physical exam with the 49ers on Monday, the trade is off.
Wright's failure on the physical exam invites questions regarding whether the 49ers had second thoughts about acquiring the cornerback after reporters linked the cornerback to a recent arrest in Los Angeles.
Whatever the case, Wright reverted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' roster. The Bucs then released him, according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
Wright, who played through an Achilles tendon injury before serving a suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs last season, could be available to the 49ers later, when his health is improved and his off-the-field troubles might be resolved. It's not clear whether the team will have interest in him at that point. For now, the 49ers will head into training camp with a familiar group of cornerbacks featuring Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown, Chris Culliver, Perrish Cox and Nnamdi Asomugha, among others.
The 49ers had reportedly agreed to give the Bucs a conditional late-round selection in 2014. The low compensation suggested that the Bucs were going to release Wright and that the 49ers preferred acquiring him at low cost to taking their chances in the market. This was not a high-stakes move, in other words, but it does indicate the 49ers would like to improve their depth at the position.
