Chiefs get another reminder of TE need

This is why the Kansas City Chiefs drafted tight end Travis Kelce in the third round.
Tony Moeaki is dealing with yet another injury. Kansas City coach Andy Reid said Monday that Moeaki, a fourth-year tight end, suffered a fractured shoulder at Pittsburgh on Saturday. It is not known how long Moeaki will be out. But it could be a significant injury.
This is nothing new for Moeaki. He was injury-prone at Iowa, and missed the entire 2011 season after tearing his ACL in the preseason. He came back last season, but dealt with several injuries and finished with 33 catches.
The field-stretching Moeaki had a terrific rookie season with 47 catches. He is a matchup problem and he has fine hands. But sadly, injuries have made him unreliable.
That’s why Kelce was taken. He is expected to play a lot with starter Anthony Fasano, who was signed in free agency. If Moeaki can work his way back, the Chiefs will have a strong group of tight ends, but this injury is another reminder of his issues.
