Cody Vaz will start at quarterback for Oregon State when Arizona State visits on Saturday, Beavers coach Mike Riley announced Monday.

Sean Mannion, who started the first four games, had yielded to Vaz for two games after suffering a knee injury. Vaz won at BYU and beat Utah. Mannion came back and started at Washington last weekend, but threw four interceptions in the 20-17 defeat. Vaz replaced him and nearly rallied the Beavers to a victory.

Riley told reporters that starting Vaz is "best for the team right now."

"Cody is playing a little bit better right now," Riley said.
