Sam Gordon On Wheaties Box

SALT LAKE CITY -- A 9-year-old Utah girl who plays little league football can claim a Wheaties cereal box.

Samantha Gordon, of Herriman, Utah, goes by the nickname "Sweet Feet." She ran for more than 2,000 yards and scored 35 touchdowns in a just-completed season for the Gremlin Division of the Ute Conference -- football for little leaguers.

A highlight video of Gordon's performance has gone viral on YouTube, making her something of a sports celebrity. She appeared Wednesday on "Good Morning America" and "SportsCenter" with her likeness on a custom-made box of Wheaties.

"I think it's really great," Gordon told "SportsCenter" when asked how it felt to be on a Wheaties box. "My mom, she told me that this is a real athletic breakfast and that only real athletes get on it and that Michael Jordan was on it for a long time. So I'm really proud to be on the Wheaties box."

General Mills Inc. told The Associated Press it's a one-of-a-kind box -- Samantha's image won't be used on Wheaties boxes sold in stores.

Gordon's coach, Chris Staib, calls the running back a tenacious young athlete.

Asked on "SportsCenter" what she liked most about playing football, Gordon said, "Being the girl out there and scoring on the boys and the boys being like, 'Dangit, I just got beat by a girl.'"

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
