Meet The Prospects: Kailee Johnson dares grandpa
Kailee Johnson is a 6-foot-3 senior forward at Central Catholic (Portland, Ore.), the No. 20 prospect in the 2013 class and a Stanford commit. Johnson shares some of her secrets in this edition of “Meet the Prospects.”
Nickname: KJ, just my initials.
Pick a number: 32 because it was the first number my coach ever gave me and it kind of just stuck. And I like it because Magic Johnson wore it. We have the same last name and almost the same birthday (Kailee’s is Aug. 13 and Magic’s is Aug. 14).
Other than basketball, what is your favorite hobby? I love boating.
If you could go one-on-one with anyone who would it be? My grandpa, because he still thinks he can beat me.
If you had to compare your game to a current college or pro player, who would it be? I try to emulate retired NBA superstar Scottie Pippen because he was an all-around great player. He doesn’t have gaps in his game, and he could play and guard any position.
Who is your role model? My great-grandma because she is a very balanced, strong and self-sufficient woman.
What is the most important thing basketball fans should know about you? I would do anything for my teammates.
What is your favorite basketball moment so far? When my Team Concept team played Cal Sparks last spring in California. Even though we lost it was one of the most exciting games I have ever played in.
The King and I: LeBron James wishes he could … do a messy bun as well as I can.
