Oderah Chidom cherishes balance, likes baking
Oderah Chidom just finished her senior season at Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) with a state title. The 6-foot-3 forward is the No. 10 prospect in the 2013 class and a Duke commit. She shares some of her secrets in this edition of “Meet The Prospects.”
Nickname: Deezy. My teammates call me that on the court.
Pick a number: I wear jersey No. 22 because it represents balance, and my goal is to always have my life balanced.
Devilish tradition: I chose Duke because it has an excellent tradition and I feel as if I can thrive in that kind of environment.
Other than basketball, what is your favorite hobby? Baking.
If you could go one-on-one with anyone, who would it be? Kevin Durant because I love his game and I would love to model myself after him.
If you had to compare your game to a current college or pro player, who would it be? DeWanna Bonner because we have the same body type and use it to our advantage.
Who is your role model? My best friend Randi Jackson [a former O’Dowd star who just finished her freshman season at Robert Morris] because despite any adversity she has faced, she always manages to have a smile on her face.
What is the most important thing basketball fans should know about you? I love my Nigerian heritage.
What is your favorite basketball moment so far? Winning two consecutive state titles with my high school team.
The King and I: LeBron James wishes he could … sing karaoke as well as I can.
