Miles and smiles
It has been a crazy month. This season has flown by so far. I feel like my Tulsa Shock teammates and I have traveled all over the place at the start of this season, as we had four of our first five games on the road.
When we go on trips like these I'm so thankful to have such great teammates who are just as funny as I am.
You've got Courtney Paris, Vicki Baugh, myself, Angel Goodrich and Glory Johnson. I was pretty excited about the fact we found drinking fountains for everyone. LOL!
Being on the road you tend to get tired, as you can see by our Vicki Baugh selfie.
At the start of June we finally got to return to Tulsa and relax before our four-game home stretch.
Below, Sky [Diggins], Angel and I are at the first of our spur-of-the-moment team barbecues of the season.
We started our four-game home stretch against one of the best teams in the league, Phoenix. It was a terrific game for us, and we earned our first win.
The good thing about being at home is you're comfortable with everything. The fans are our fans, the arena is our arena and, well, we tend to goof off a little more, as shown by myself and fellow rookie Theresa Plaisance, aka "T." We decided to do a photo shoot one day because, well, that's just what we do!
We faced New York in the second of our four-game home stretch. It was another victory for us! We had won two straight!
Our third game in a row at home we faced Los Angeles. It was such a close game but we managed to pull out yet another W!
On June 15, we played Seattle as our last game in Tulsa for the next couple of weeks. It was another difficult game, but we edged them at the end. With the victory that meant we had won four straight, the most consecutive wins since the team moved to Tulsa! This is the absolute best feeling. We wanted to win so badly for our fans, organization, coaches and ourselves and then BOOM, four straight!
After our home stretch it was time to get back on the road. One of the stops we made was in Phoenix. Even though we lost the game, it was still great to see my friends.
This was our last night in Phoenix before heading to Chicago. So much fun!
Did I say we goof off more at home? Maybe we're crazy wherever we go. I love my teammates! Below are Glory, Angel, myself and Vicki in Indianapolis.
We finally won our first road game in Chicago. We pulled together as a team and eliminated a 10-point gap in the last few minutes to force overtime. Now we're 5-7 going into a jam-packed July and we know we can win. Bring it July because we're ready! #RockWithTheShock.
Until next time,
