It's amazing to clinch berth

With a win over the New York Liberty on Friday night, Elena Delle Donne and her Chicago Sky teammates clinched the first playoff berth in franchise history.

Being that this is my rookie season, I have experienced a lot of "firsts" this year: my first professional game, my first time playing in a Chicago Sky jersey, my first opportunity to play with and against the best women's basketball players in the world.

This past Friday night I experienced another first as a professional basketball player, but this first was, to me, more special and unique than the others. I was sharing this experience with my teammates, my coaches, our entire staff and the loyal Sky fans who have been there since this team was brand new. Together, we were able to experience the achievement of clinching a playoff berth for the first time in the history of the franchise.

This feeling was nothing short of amazing. Knowing that I was sharing this with some women who, like me, are in their first year on the Sky and with some teammates who have been on this team for years, is awesome.

This is a very special year for our team. We have been able to put the pieces of the puzzle together to reach a success that the Sky had not previously attained.

While as a team we are excited about this step, we are fully aware that it is just that, one step on our long journey. We are not satisfied with simply making the playoffs. We know what we are capable of and are excited and willing to do what it takes to reach even greater accomplishments.

I am extremely eager for what is yet to come and feel very lucky to be sharing this experience with my teammates and coaches.
