I hope everyone is enjoying all the softball on TV as much as I am.! The postseason is the most exciting part of the year. This is what each team works for day in and day out, which is to be able to get back to the big stage in Oklahoma City.
I hope everyone has had a great week. As you all know postseason has finally arrived, and it’s my favorite time of year. This past weekend did not go exactly as planned at the SEC tournament, but it was still great preparation for regionals.
We did it! We finished the Big 12 season exactly how we wanted, clinching the Bedlam series and the conference championship on Saturday, and finishing the sweep via a Keilani Ricketts no-hitter and a couple of Lauren Chamberlain home runs on Sunday.
Since the last blog, Texas A&M softball won our series against Mississippi State and traveled to the SEC tournament in Lexington, Ky. With the way the seedings worked out, we faced Alabama in the opener and dropped a tough back-and-forth loss.
This is my first post as an official graduate of The University of Texas! So to begin this entry, I’d like to say thanks and Hook ‘Em. We wrapped up our conference season Sunday with a win over Baylor in the ninth inning on a very emotional Senior Day.
I got some great and unexpected news Wednesday. Corinne, our sports information director, texted me that morning and said she had a big surprise for me.I was extremely eager to find out what this big surprise was and went into the team room to find out.
First we want to send congratulations to the 64 teams who made it into the 2013 NCAA tournament. For the Alabama softball program, this makes 15 in a row. Our coaches, players and staff couldn’t be more excited.
And the road to Oklahoma City begins. It is now my favorite time of the year. This is what we have worked so hard for each and every year. I can honestly say I have butterflies just thinking about it.

It has been a busy week for us Sooners as we have been preparing for and taking our finals. By this time in the week, things are starting to wind down, though, and school will be completely over for everyone come game time Friday!
