The season unfortunately has come to an end for the Lady Lions, but we can still walk away with many great accomplishments and memories. The reality of March Madness is that only one team leaves happy.

So it's official: We are headed to Baton Rouge, La., for the first round of the NCAA tournament!Monday night was the selection show, and we found out that we received a No. 3 seed and will be taking on Cal Poly on Sunday.

This was another fun and exciting week for our program as we came off a loss at Minnesota with a win at Nebraska that solidified us as the outright Big Ten champs. Another exciting part was knowing my dad would make one of his appearances on this trip.

I came to Penn State for many reasons, but one of the biggest was the chance to play for my head coach, Coquese Washington. I clearly remember the first time I saw Co at one of my AAU tournaments, where my dad informed me after the game that she was the new Penn State coach.
At Penn State there is an overwhelming amount of support from the community for its sports teams. We consider ourselves very lucky for the crowds who attend our games loyally throughout the season. Whenever my teammates and I are walking around, on or off campus, we can always expect good luck wishes for our upcoming games and constant reminders of support and reassurance of attendance at the next game, win or lose.
Last week one of my teammates reached a huge milestone in her career. In our win over Minnesota, Nikki Greene pulled down a tough offensive rebound in traffic scored with a quick putback layup. That basket marked the 1,000th point of Nikki’s career.
Many people ask me where I work out and practice my shot during our brief summer break. I spend the majority of the summer driving out to my old high school to lift and shoot. At night, however, I walk down to my favorite courts in the whole world, the Narberth basketball courts.
Behind the Lady Lions team, there is another team that helps us prepare for every game. It goes by the name “The Red Dragons” or “P-Squad.” The Red Dragons are our men’s practice team and they are a crucial part of our success.
Many people who are a part of the Lady Lions program work behind the scenes and are just as important as the players and coaches. As we begin another semester at Penn State, I would like to introduce you to one of those.
