DURHAM, N.C. -- Almost as if it were yesterday, we return to Raleigh Durham International Airport. We are jet-setting yet again, but this time we are traveling to Florida to take on two of our ACC opponents in Florida State and Miami. These two big games will kick off the conference portion of our schedule.
We are coming off two solid weekends -- first at Southern California's tournament and then our very own Duke Nike Classic. We were able to capture our goal of four wins with two each weekend.
Though we were happy with the results, the team was not satisfied. Satisfaction is for those who have no room for improvement and do not wish to get better. Our team exemplifies the antithesis of that.
As the ACC season approaches, we are only setting our standards higher to match the level of competition that we will be faced with. As time passes by, I find myself not even realizing what point we have reached in our season -- or rather, failing to stop and smell the roses. We are midway through, halfway to the beginning of the postseason.
I cannot believe it was over a month ago that we returned to campus to start preseason training. With that being said, we cannot forget about the grind -- the trials and tribulations we overcame to get to this point.
Each and every member, whether injured or healthy, has contributed to get us to this point. Hours spent doing extra work as well as hours spent for rehab has not gone unnoticed.
This common dedicated mentality strengthens our team and keeps us pushing forward. I know I speak for many when I say that I am truly excited to see how we begin the ACC season as well as seeing how the season progresses.
If we continue to do all the necessary things we have discussed as well as work as a cohesive unit to keep this dedicated mentality, I have no doubt that we will continue to prosper and control our own destiny, while stopping to smell the roses, of course.
