Howdy, my name is Meagan May, and I am a junior catcher for the Fighting' Texas Aggie softball team! My mission with this blog is to try to give a little bit of a behind-the-scenes look at Texas A&M softball. We are a rowdy group that loves a good laugh but still takes our jobs here pretty seriously. The one thing we love most of all is game day because, as every athlete knows, anything is possible on game day.
We just finished our three-game series with Baylor, where we took all three games. We ended the series Tuesday night with a 10-2 run rule, which was one of the funniest games I've experienced in a long time. One of the reasons was all of the awesome home runs we had. My favorite was the long shot into dead center field by our shortstop Brittany Walker. Now, Britt has always been a great hitter but never a long ball hitter; she's really more of a slapper. But Tuesday night, she took off to slap and crushed that ball farther than I think even she knew she could. I was so excited because I've been telling her it would happen for years. :)
Another exciting moment was when Amber Garza, our third baseman, went yard. She has just come off of a hurt ankle, where she missed a few games, and never missed a beat. She was seeing the ball great and looked so comfortable out there. All of the Aggies really looked great both at the plate and on the field. It was the kind of team we are known to put on the field, and it was an exciting team to watch and be a part of.
Now we move on to our favorite series of the season against that team up in Austin, t.u. Our first game is today, and we couldn't be more excited. We have been in the cages all week getting ready for their pitching staff, and it shows because everyone looks great. On the other hand, our pitching staff has been in the bullpen working their tails off to get ready because everyone knows the Longhorns are a good hitting team. But my money is on our pitchers (if I were allowed to bet, that is). :) So if you find yourself with nothing to do or you just want to see some awesome softball, then tune in to ESPN2 to watch the Fightin' Texas Aggies "Beat the Hell Outta t.u."!!!!
