One year ago today, the legendary Pat Summitt ended her illustrious coaching career at the University of Tennessee and was named head coach emeritus. Summitt, who has been inducted to both the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and the Basketball Hall of Fame, won eight national championships and 16 SEC tournament titles during her 38-year career.
On this day in 2009, legendary women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt won her 1,000th game during her 35th season at Tennessee with a 73-43 victory over Georgia. To mark the milestone, Tennessee announced that Summitt had signed a new contract through the 2014 season.
