Hoops and hockey happiness this weekend

NBA: The NBA playoffs are in full swing with plenty of action this weekend. We start on Friday night with Game 3 at Madison Square Garden between the Celtics and Knicks (7 p.m., ESPN). Boston leads the first-round series 2-0 and is 33-0 all-time when up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series. Chauncey Billups likely will not play and Amare Stoudemire is questionable for the Knicks. It's the first postseason home game for New York since April 2000, so you know MSG will be rocking. ... Orlando and Atlanta tip off Game 3 of their 1-1 series in Atlanta at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. ...The Lakers and Hornets have a critical Game 3 in New Orleans, where the defending champs look to reclaim home-court advantage (9:30 p.m., ESPN). When a seven-game series is tied 1-1, the team that wins Game 3 goes on to win the series 76.0 percent of the time.

Saturday brings us four more playoff games starting at 2:30 p.m. when Derrick Rose and Chicago seek a four-game sweep at Indiana (TNT). ... Portland looks to tie its series against Dallas at 2-2 at 5 p.m. (TNT). ... The Grizzlies will defend their home court against the West's top-seeded Spurs (7 p.m., ESPN). ... After a dominating win for the Thunder in Game 2, the scene shifts to Denver where the Nuggets look to get back in the series, trailing 2-0 (10 p.m., ESPN).

The weekend closes out with four more games on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. on ABC when LeBron James and the Heat seek a four-game sweep against the Sixers. ... The Knicks and Celtics tip off Game 4 at Madison Square Garden at 3:30 p.m. on ABC. ... Atlanta hosts Orlando for Game 4 of their series at 7 p.m. on TNT. ... Finally, the Lakers and Hornets tip Game 4 in New Orleans at 9:30 p.m. on TNT.

NHL: Rejoice, puckheads! This weekend brings a flurry of Stanley Cup playoff action, with nine games over the next three days. We get started on Friday night with Buffalo at Philadelphia (series tied 2-2) at 7:30 p.m. (Versus) and Nashville at Anaheim (series tied 2-2) at 10 p.m.

Pittsburgh looks to close out Tampa Bay (Penguins lead 3-1) Saturday at noon. ... The Rangers head to Washington hoping to extend the series another day after a devastating double OT loss at home in Game 4 (3 p.m., NBC). The Capitals lead the series 3-1. ... Montreal and Boston are tied 2-2 with a crucial Game 5 in Boston. Neither team has won at home this series (7 p.m., Versus). ... San Jose takes a 3-1 series lead back home and looks to close out the Kings (10:30 p.m., Versus) to join Detroit in the Western Conference semifinals.

Buffalo hosts Game 6 against Philadelphia on Sunday (3 p.m., NBC). ... Anaheim visits Nashville for Game 6 on Sunday (6 p.m.)...The Canucks failed to close out the Stanley Cup champions on Thursday, so the series shifts back to Chicago on Sunday with Vancouver leading 3-2 (7:30 p.m., Versus).
