Arizona State running back Marion Grice has rejoined the team a week after his brother was reportedly killed in an attempted robbery over his "Air Jordan" basketball shoes.

According to The Arizona Republic, Grice is expected to play Saturday for the Sun Devils in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Navy. He practiced Wednesday and Thursday.

"It's a terrible thing that happened, but we're glad to have him back and to be able to put our arms around him and get him back on this football field and get him playing," Sun Devils offensive coordinator Mike Norvell said, according to the newspaper.

Police say Grice's 22-year-old brother Joshua Wood was gunned down Friday after two men demanded his recently bought Air Jordan XI "Bred" shoes.

Jordan spokesman Josh Benedek said the Nike-owned brand had no comment.

Grice, a junior, is the Sun Devils' second-leading rusher in 2012 with 520 yards after a season-high 156 in a 41-34 win over Arizona in the regular-season finale.

Information from ESPN.com sports business reporter Darren Rovell was used in this report.
