BOSTON -- Luke Greiner had a hat trick to lead Harvard to a 7-4 victory over No. 13 Boston University on Monday in the Beanpot consolation game.

Peter Traber stopped 43 shots for Harvard (6-15-2). The Crimson have not won the annual tournament between the Boston area's four college hockey powers since 1993.

It was the second time in two years that BU finished last in the tournament.

Boston College beat Northeastern later Monday in the championship game.

Sean Maguire made 24 saves for the Terriers (13-12-1), who were playing in the third-place game for just the fourth time in 30 years.

Marshall Everson scored twice for Harvard, the first to tie it at 3 early in the second just 73 seconds before Greiner gave Harvard the lead. Greiner scored again late in the second.

BU's Cason Hohmann pulled the Terriers back to 6-4, after Sahir Gill drove hard to the Harvard net, drawing a crowd. The puck squirted loose to the right of Traber, and Hohmann tucked it home at 11:24.

Desperate for offense, coach Jack Parker pulled Maguire with about minute to go, but Traber made a point-blank stop on Sean Escobedo at the doorstep with 33 seconds left to blunt any hopes of a Terrier comeback.

Greiner capped his hat trick with an empty-netter with 8.6 seconds left.
