NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Iona athletic director Eugene Marshall Jr. has announced he will step down when his two-year term expires on June 1.

Marshall, who announced his decision Thursday, was hired to oversee the Gaels' athletic program in 2011 after serving one year as acting AD at Ramapo College in his second stint at the school. He was the deputy director of athletics at the U.S. Military Academy from 2005-10 after serving as the AD at Ramapo from 1998-05.

Iona has started its search for Marshall's replacement and he will assist the transition team, led by Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president for advancement and external affairs, and Matt Glovaski, the senior associate AD.
