Celebrities set to party it up in New Orleans

By Kelley Carter

New Orleans, the land of shrimp po-boys, pralines and beads aplenty, is hosting the Super Bowl.

And if anybody knows how to throw a Southern-fried party, it's this place, which has hosted nine Super Bowls in years past. The celebrity VIP scene will be cranked. Famous faces expected to be seen out and about include Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne and Solange (and Beyonce!) Knowles.

Here's a look at some of those money-can't-buy-you-a-ticket events you'll surely be hearing about over the next few days.

Thursday

EA Sports Madden Bowl

Location: Wyndham Riverfront New Orleans

The scene: This party kicks off the entire weekend. Top NFL players will be in the house to test out video games, and hip-hop superstar (and New Orleans native) Lil Wayne will perform. NFL players and veterans expected to attend include Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, Arian Foster, Victor Cruz and Troy Aikman. Denard Robinson and Eddie Lacy could make an appearance, too.

Eighth-annual NFL Super Bowl Celebrity Bowling Classic

Location: AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, La.

The scene: There is a golf classic Friday, but we're guessing the most fun is had at the bowling event. As usual, team captains will include current and former NFL stars and members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Friday

ESPN Next Party

Location: Tad Gormley Stadium

The scene: This has become one of the Super Bowl's premier parties, if we do say so ourselves. Expect every hot celebrity and athlete in town to be bumping shoulders at this must-attend event. This year's performers are Cee Lo Green and his group, Goodie Mob. Also expected are Kelly Rowland, D-Nice (who will spin), Alyssa Milano, Peter Facinelli, Mark Sanchez, Michael Strahan, Candice Swanepoel, Anthony Anderson, Tom Arnold, Drew Bledsoe, Landon Donovan, Rob Gronkowski, Chanel Iman, Lolo Jones, Anthony Mackie, Charles Oakley, Jerry Rice, Michael Vick and Kurt Warner.

Rolling Stone Live

Location: Wyndham Riverfront New Orleans

The scene: The magazine promises one of the best music lineups of the weekend. Pitbull and Flo Rida are set to perform.

Leather & Laces Party

Location: Second Line Stages

The scene: For the 10th straight year, the Leather and Lace party will grace the Super Bowl host city. Outside of the Playboy party, it's one of the sexiest parties you'll find, and they'll be partying on two nights, just like last year. Friday night's event is hosted by Kendra Wilkinson, Jenny McCarthy, Stephanie Pratt and Audrina Patridge.

Playboy Party

Location: Jax Brewery Bistro Bar

The scene: It's every frat boy's dream. This year's event will be hosted by 20 Playboy Playmates and will feature music by DJs Devin Lucien and Jesse Marco, with a special performance by B.o.B. It's a Super Bowl staple. Expect this party to be crawling with NFL players, celebrities and people with access to private jets. Expected celebs include David Arquette and Zac Efron.

Audi Party

Location: Ogden Museum

The scene: An A-list cast of characters will be strolling about this party. The luxury automaker wouldn't have it any other way. In years past, they've catered to celebs, including Ashton Kutcher, Olivia Munn and Tony Romo.

Saturday

GQ Party

Location: The Elms Mansion

The scene: Once again, hometown hero Lil Wayne will be on the scene performing. This party will be crawling with famous faces. Some of the expected celebrities include Kate Upton, 50 Cent, Zoe Saldana, Ryan Lochte, Victor Cruz, Chace Crawford, J. Cole, Katherine Webb, AJ McCarron, Arian Foster, Jerry Rice, Kelly Rowland, Ian Somerhalder, the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" and the Baltimore Ravens' cheerleaders.

Leather & Laces Party

Location: Second Line Stages

The scene: The second night of the party will be hosted by Jamie Chung, Rachael Leigh Cook, Brooklyn Decker and Josh Henderson, so guess where a bunch of NFL players will be hanging out?

DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl

Location: DTV SuperFan Stadium at Mardi Gras World

The scene: For the seventh year in a row, DirecTV gets in on the game -- literally. Celebrities and athletes compete on more than a million pounds of sand in a flag football game. Tons of marquee names are expected to participate, including Snoop Dogg, Neil Patrick Harris, Katharine McPhee, Josh Hutcherson, Nina Dobrev, Maria Menounos, Chrissy Teigen, Jesse Williams, Lolo Jones, Deion Sanders, Warren Moon and Eddie George. And if you're dying to see this game (but can't get in) it'll air at 1 p.m. ET on DirecTV's Audience Network, NBC Sports Network, all of DirecTV's Regional Sports Networks (Root Sports Northwest, Rocky Mountain and Pittsburgh), as well as internationally on DirecTV's Pan Americana and DirecTV Puerto Rico outlets.

DirecTV Super Saturday Night Party

Location: DTV SuperFan Stadium at Mardi Gras World

The scene: It'll be a party scene for the winners of the Beach Bowl. Actually, it'll be a party regardless of which team you're on, as Justin Timberlake will perform and Mark Cuban will co-host. This will be a talker for sure, considering it's Timberlake's first concert in five years.

Patron Tequila Presents: The Maxim Party

Location: Second Line Studios

The scene: If anybody knows how to flesh out an incredible party theme, it's Maxim magazine. So what's on deck for this year? Greek gods and goddesses. Dare we cue up a scene from "Animal House"? Party organizers will have godlike models, live statues and a Coliseum-themed lounge environment wrapped around great food and cocktails.

Casa de Don Julio VIP Sports & Entertainment Dinner and Late Night Party with Audi

Location: Ogden Museum

The scene: After dinner, the party (done with Audi) begins. Last year, Cam Newton was honored. Lil Jon performs. Others who have dropped in at this exclusive event include Ashton Kutcher, Hayden Panettiere, Nelly and Spike Lee. We can't wait to see what this year brings. It'll go until 4 in the morning, and Solange Knowles and Diplo will entertain.

Taste of the NFL: Party With A Purpose

Location: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

The scene: Celebrities and party guests should not wear form-fitting clothes. As you may have guessed from the event's title, this is a place to sample copious amounts of delicious cuisine from top chefs. Joey Faugno and Mauro Castano from TLC's "Cake Boss" will be there to reveal an original cake creation as triple-platinum band Soul Asylum performs.

NFL Honors

Location: Mahalia Jackson Theater

The scene: "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin will host the second annual event. OneRepublic will be the musical act. Many NFL greats are expected, including Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and countless others. The beauty is that fans at home can catch a two-hour prime-time awards special beginning at 9 p.m. ET Saturday on CBS.

Sunday

Hennessy Party

Location: Republic

The scene: Last year our party team had the most fun here, considering the music was being spun by legendary hip-hop artist Reverend Run. This year they're upping the ante, and instead of doing a Saturday night event, they're doing a postgame party that will feature a performance by hip-hop icon Nas. It's a perfect way to end the weekend party scene … or cry your eyes out over an adult beverage, should your team lose.
