Linnae Harper is a 5-foot-6 senior guard at Whitney Young (Chicago), the No. 5 prospect in the 2013 class and a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball. Harper, who is headed to Kentucky, shares some of her secrets in this edition of “Meet the Prospects.”

Other than basketball, what is your favorite hobby? Chess.
If you could go one-on-one with anyone, who would it be? The New York Liberty’s Cappie Pondexter because our games are so similar.
If you had to compare your game to a current college or pro player who would it be? The Celtics’ Paul Pierce.
Who is your role model? My mother, Ericka Harper. She is a strong and independent woman. She does everything for me.
What is the most important thing basketball fans should know about you? I love shoes.
What is your favorite basketball moment so far? Whitney Young’s 2012 super sectional win over Bolingbrook (Ill.), a 74-65 four-overtime thriller. (The Dolphins went on to win the Illinois Class 4A state title with a 63-51 win over Edwardsville and posted a 34-0 record).
