Jordin Canada gives verbal commitment to UCLA

By espnW

Jordin Canada, the No. 2 prospect in the espnW Super 60 for the 2014 class, has given a verbal commitment to UCLA.

Canada, a 5-foot-6 point guard who led Windward (Los Angeles) to a runner-up finish in the CIF state championship Open Division last weekend, is the top-ranked point guard in the nation.

She joins Recee Caldwell, the No. 6 prospect in the 2014 class, in what is shaping up to be a historic recruiting class for the Bruins. Caldwell, also a guard, attends Lady Bird Johnson in San Antonio, Texas.

Canada and Caldwell played together on USA Basketballs U16 team in 2011 and helped the U.S. win a gold medal at the FIBA Americas zone qualifier in Merida, Mexico, with a 5-0 record.

UCLA plays Oklahoma on Monday in the second round of the NCAA women's basketball tournament.
